Auckland is New Zealand's largest city and has one boat for every four households. Cruise ships berth at the docks right downtown. Unfortunately, most sights are a distance from the cruise ship dock. Within the close-in city, there is the New Gallery for art as well as the Auckland Museum noted for its Maori antiques. Outside of Auckland is the KT's Underwater World and Antarctic Experience and the famous Auckland Zoo plus other sites.
We found that it was worth making arrangements to rent a car so that these sights can be reached easily and economically. The Hop-on-Hop-Off bus was $40 per person and didn't reach some of the sights we wanted to see. Omega Rental Cars was very helpful.
ATM: Nearby banks.
